Bidvertiser, a free way to make money on the Internet, is a long-standing CPC ad network. In 2003, Bpath (parent company of Bidvertiser) spotted the need of website owners to sell their ad space directly to advertisers, overcoming the disadvantages of automated systems, like Google's AdSense and Overture's Content Match, where neither the advertiser nor the publisher has any control of the advertisements' quality, pricing and timing. Bidvertiser On-Site Bid Per Click offers website owners with the ability to sell their ad space, automatically, to the highest bidder, on a price-per-click basis, where the price is mostly effected by the quality and popularity of their website. Advertisers can place ads directly on sites of their choice and pay only when a visitor clicks-through their site. Bidvertiser serves text and banner ads in all types of standard ad units, including banners, buttons, skyscrapers and inline ads. Bidvertiser has strict guidelines for its participating publishers and advertisers. They manually review each website and ad to ensure their publishers the highest yielding ads, and the best conversion rates for their advertisers.
Although we have never faced this issue ourselves, there are, unfortunately, a lot of comments on the Internet indicating that this manual review process takes place only after the pay-out amount is reached, with many publishers losing the monies they have accrued. There is also an inordinate amount of comments about Bidvertiser earnings audits yielding far less than the Bidvertiser dashboard indicates. Again, this is not something we have dealt with.
Of course, such comments in and of themselves prove nothing either way about Bidvertiser, its practices or the quality of its ad products: This is the Internet, after all, and all such commentary should be taken with a grain of salt when considering the basic human tendency to complain about something as loudly and clearly as we possibly can, while being nearly silent when we are satisfied. Moreover, there is not an ad network in existence that will work for absolutely everyone (wouldn't that be nice!).
To us, the true stand-out feature of Bidvertiser for publishers is the ability to block any unwanted advertiser, and to do so easily and specifically. The standard complaint from publishers is the relevance of the ads they are seeing in their ad units; and, the low CTR (click-through-rate) that results from ad irrelevance. The ability to hand-pick what one wishes to publish is a rare feature that should be taken advantage of when affiliating with Bidvertiser. The 'Make Money' niche is very nicely represented in Bidvertisers bank of advertisers; however, this is the only niche we use them with, so, and as always, the best way to find out if affiliating with Bidvertiser will work for you is to sign up and give it a whirl.
As a free way to make money with a website or a blog, Bidvertiser does appear to be a network that either 'works' really well for people or doesn't 'work' at all; and we are pretty sure we know the reason: Earnings per click, for us, range from as low as $.03/click to as high as $1.50/click. However, this is the natural result of a transparent marketplace open to bidding, the general value of the niche that an advertiser is involved with, and the money the advertiser is willing to spend. We believe some publishers simply do not take advantage of the opportunity to block the lower paying advertisers with the means available for them to do so in their Bidvertiser dashboard when it might be in their best interests to do so. We elect to include the lower paying advertisers to provide the most diverse range of ad choices for our sites' visitors; and this is a strategy that we feel works well. In short, Bidvertiser enables the publisher to see what they will be paid by an advertiser prior to ever serving the ad--why not use it?
We should note that advertiser bidding for a piece of your ad real estate improves over time; therefore, those $.03 clicks we spoke of are an exceedingly rare occurrence once your site is established as something that will convert well for advertisers. Bidvertiser has a very low pay out threshold of $10.00; they pay through PayPal. Bidvertiser is CPC only: You will not be paid CPM (by impressions).
Bidvertiser's customizable ad units are available in "free design" (set your own size parameters) as well as standard IAB sizes. Bidvertiser also serves popunder ads that you can turn off or on, as well as eBay ads. Implementation is easy, and done by adding a snippet of HTML code to your page. Load time for Bidvertiser ads is below average: Taking, on rare occasion, upwards of 5 seconds. Maneuvering through the Bidvertiser dashboard takes some getting used to; but once one does, the patterns become logical. The load time for certain pages in the dashboard--such as the referral center--is really slow; but, for the most, getting around isn't slow to the point of frustration. We have only needed to contact customer service once; but they responded professionally, cordially, and quickly (24 hours).
